The problem

Ground crews can't keep pace with a drone.

A two-person topographical survey crew walking a 5-hectare site is a day on the ground. The same site captured by drone is a 25-minute flight. The processed deliverable lands on AIM Hosting the same week, accurate to the centimetre.

Where drone topography really pays back is on sites with access constraints, hazardous ground, dense vegetation, or live operations. Energy infrastructure, quarries, landfill, golf courses, construction sites, contaminated land, all places traditional surveying is slow, expensive, or simply unsafe.

Two capture methods

Photogrammetry or LiDAR.

Photogrammetric topography is the right choice for open, low-vegetation sites: car parks, fields, quarries, construction sites at clearance phase. Output is dense, accurate, and lower cost per hectare than LiDAR.

LiDAR topography is the right choice when ground penetration matters: woodland, scrub, dense undergrowth, or where you need to extract bare-earth contours under foliage. Our LiDAR capture maintains accuracy under canopy where photogrammetry can't see the ground.

  • Photogrammetry, open ground
    2-5cm accuracy. Fast capture. Lower cost. Best for hard surfaces and short grass.
  • LiDAR, vegetated sites
    2-5cm accuracy. Penetrates tree canopy and dense undergrowth to reach bare earth.
  • Ground Control Points (GCPs)
    RTK-GNSS controlled targets on every job, tied into the Ordnance Survey grid.
  • Repeat surveys
    Captured the same way visit-to-visit so comparisons are like-for-like.
